or as my handy-dandy internet translator says … Guten Tag Deutschland!
My family & I are off on a much needed vacation! I will be back at it upon my return.
Until then …

but nothing really is as simple as that. i am a woman living a double life ... corporate career woman by day, photographer by night (or rather by the light). i don't know if i found photography or it found me, either way part of who i am is ... photographer.
my most important work is as mother & wife. i live in new jersey & i like it! my German Shepherd answers to the name Guinness. i am allergic to mornings, but coffee helps. i think i can sing, i think i can dance, i know that others diasgree. i believe every person is a beautiful work in progress & i fully accept that i am perfectly imperfect, just as i should be.
i am so excited that you have stumbled upon my little corner of the internet, please take a moment, peek around & become a part of my work in progress.

Onto part 2 of the awesome portrait session i had with a set of families. I present to you, Ava & Fiona, cousins to the kids in this post. Fiona was shy at first, but opened up pretty quickly. She kept laughing at how close my camera would get to her while I was trying to get a great expression on her face. I bet you can guess which one she is! Ava was loving & smiled non-stop. She was the first to put an arm around a cousin or her sister which lent itself to awesome real & honest interaction between them.
Their gorgeous mom had a few simple requests … “photos where you can see … their faces” (√)
… “but either catching a loving moment” (√)(√)
… “or one of them just goofing around and having fun” (√)(√)(√).
Finally she wanted “a photo with [her] and [her] girls” (√)(√)(√)(√).
Hope this is what you were looking for Kim!
I have two sisters patiently waiting for images of their beautiful children. Lisa & Kim … thanks so much for being patient with me. I hope the images are worth the wait.
I have been wanting to get this blog post done since the date I had the opportunity to do this portrait session. It was just soooo much fun & the kids were just dreams! I got to shoot these 2 sisters children on a wonderful morning in August, in their incredible backyard. I know that made for an easier photo session, as they were in comfortable & familiar surroundings & I couldn’t have asked for a better setting. I thought that all the images would end up in one post. But nope, I think we are going to end up with three, one of each family separate & one of the cousins together. So hang tight, as I hope these are a feast for the eyes & that the moms love the final product.
The lucky first ones are … Luca, Marc & Sophia. Each of them are so beautiful & unique in their own way. Now for my favorites (which were not easy to choose) …
Sophia was not in the least bit shy of me or the camera, her silliness & beautiful smile never turned off!
Marc has eyes that I describe as being very wise … it’s like he knows something that the rest of us don’t!
Luca, the oldest was eager to please & had so many wonderful expressions that I had the hardest time narrowing his shots down.
& finally, an image of all three. I just love this one because it shows them interacting, laughing & loving each other. just as we hope all siblings do!
I wish I could capture & share every little charming thing I come across in my day. There are so many little things that make me smile to myself everyday. If only there were a printer in my head that could send these images & the narrative that went with them to the internet or that journal I try to write in everyday.
I find that the charming things that provoke my smile often follow a theme. Lately, I am drawn to strength. The strength & bravery of people to live their life no matter what is thrown at them. The strength of a flower to grown from a seed & bloom. The strength of child to make their own way. The strength of a body to do it’s thing day after day, to heal, to jump, to breathe, to run, to sleep, to wake. The strength of a mother to let her child grow. The strength of a dancer to kick & twirl. The strength of a vine to grow again after being hacked away.

This is my vine … It was a mess & constantly needed to be tamed. I hated this vine. I hacked at this vine & hoped it would never return. I’m glad it had more strength than I did patience. It grew back, slowly & found it’s own path. Which ended up being the path I found to keep it on before. It bloomed & it is beautiful. This vine is now a charming little thing that makes me smile.
